Carlos Sainz secures first F1 victory at British GP.
Carlos Sainz secured his first victory in F1 during a thrilling British Grand Prix in which Alfa Romeo's Zhou Guanyu survived a huge crash on the opening lap.
The race had to be rescheduled after Zhou's vehicle was turned upside down and hit a fence, being clipped just after the race began.
The incident caused a long delay, but the driver was eventually declared fit following being examined by the hospital.
When the race resumed, Red Bull drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez sustained damage to their vehicles.
Sainz who also beaten his teammate following an accident in the safety car was unable to keep his emotions in check when he crossed the line first.
"I do not know what to say, but it was incredible," an emotional Sainz declared after the race.
"It was an extremely special day that I will never forget." Sainz added.
